Thought I'd write a little blog, well just about how nervous I'm feeling once again. Every sunday night is full of do I feel any slimmer? Will I have lost weight? I've exercised, I've eaten well, so I should, right? A lot about weight loss is believing you can and despite losing the weight I have so far, somehow I feel like its a fluke even though I've worked hard to get here. I really need to build my confidence in all areas of life as whenever I do well and succeed, I assume I'm just lucky. I've got to start owning my achievements.
This diet is getting really hard as we're at 7 weeks now, most diets people go on last about 2/3 weeks before lapsing back into old habits but I really don't want to. I don't want to be fat laura anymore and I can still see part of her in me. I'm expecting a cinderella transformation but it's not going to happen. I preach patience to everyone but I don't want to be patient. I'm ready for it to happen now.
That's another thing I need to take ownership of my failings and gaining all this weight is a failing. The pill/mini pill/implant may have played a part as their side effects do include weight gain but I did this to my body and I don't deserve to have this weight lifted off me instantly. Weight loss needs to be about ownership and right now I've got to own this, own my success so far and own my failings that have led me to this diet.
I need to work for this so I really appreciate my new body. I'm still nervous about the fact I'm going to Tenerife and will be in a bikini for all to see but I need to own that bikini and walk tall (insert bad pun here about my 5'4 frame) I guess I've forgotten how to feel confident in all aspects of my life and sometimes I wonder amongst all the teenage angst if I've ever felt confident but it's something I need if I'm going to be successful in all aspects of my life.
I need confidence and I need to trust in my abilities and in other people. People aren't secretly thinking "what the hell is she doing wearing that? She's too fat, what an idiot!" People are not as mean as I give them credit for and I'm not that grossly overweight, I'm able to run without dying, I can still see my feet, I shop in high street stores etc! When I look in the mirror I don't think I see the real me, I always see myself as fatter than I am and that needs to stop :)
Now I think a good night's sleep is in order and I'll update weight stats in the morning -fingers crossed- xo

Fat To Fit Blog XXI: Jeans and Meals Out.
Hello everyone thought I'd do a blog about jeans as there is plenty to rant about. I believe I'm a size 14 now with my current measurements and fit into the vast majority of clothes sized as 14s but where the sizing guide went when they designed jeans is beyond me. I'll list a few examples of how jeans are ridiculous:
Also I just wanted to do a little section on eating out as I had a meal out today, only the second one I've had out since I went on my diet and its daunting! I went to Bella Italiano in Birmingham with my Dad which I thought would be alright but all I will say when eating out and eating healthily in restaurants they're really isn't a lot of choice. The healthy choice was classed as 600 calories and below which at the moment I'd class as a very large meal for me calorie wise as I tend to eat every few hours at the moment with low calorie options so my meals aren't as big but I'm getting to eat often.
I had the choice of one pasta dish, one steak dish if i swapped the fries for a green salad and 3 salad dishes and with the size of the menu its not very good, that I had 5 choices, 3 of which were salads. I chose the pasta dish Bucanti pasta with king prawns in a spicy tomato sauce which was very nice. Best advice on eating out relating to Italian food is always go for the tomato based pasta dish it will always be the healthier option. I personally believe there should be more choices that are lower calorie besides salad and I wouldn't exactly call 600 calories, low calorie for a meal. I don't want to be one of those girls who goes out and orders a green salad while everyone else is chomping down on steak and chips. This diet is a lifestyle, obviously I can splurge once in a blue moon but if you regularly eat out, dieting is a nightmare.
We're wondering why everyone is getting obese, look at how little choice you have when you go out to a restaurant or when you look for a sandwich to grab from the supermarket, every is overloaded with calories, fat, sugar and salt. We're all scratching our heads going this obesity epidemic is a 'fat miracle', its not. Portions are getting bigger, there is a lack of healthy choices that aren't saturated with salt and sugar and food labelling is misleading. Take a soup can in your house and see what it lists its calories on the front of the tin, I bet it will be for half the can. No one eats half a can of soup.
Even though that meal counts as a healthy option it was a bit of splurge especially since I had a egg custard tart as well but I've done really well these past few weeks so I can afford to go slightly over my calorie intake for the day :) Everyone deserves to once in awhile. And to every girl out there struggling to fit into a pair of jeans, or finding it hell to diet when you're out and about or even at home, you're not alone :)
See you soon xo
- I've just fit into a size 16 pair of jeans from M&S my mum originally bought for herself to diet into. My measurements tell me I'm a 14 but I'm still a size 16 by their logic, I placed a size 14 tight skirt I had against these 'size 16' jeans and the waist band is larger on the skirt!
- New Look: Tried on 4 different styles of jeans all sized 14, could fasten them (if i breathed in just right) but they looked horrendous, muffin tops, overhanging belly the works as they were all hipster style, yet I try on a size 14 body con dress in the same shop and it's far too big on me.
- I hope people on my facebook don't mind but I'm going to demonstrate my anger towards new look with the following quotes from a status I posted and these are from slim girls for gods sake!:
- "I'm not curvy, by any means (bloody wish i was), however, I do have a big bum in proportion to my body. I have the same issue with New Look. If I try on a size 10, muffin top and restriction on the bum causing a horrible bum crack displayed... whenever I'm sat down. And a size 12 is just too big on the legs."
- "If it makes you feel better I'm too scared to try on size 12's anymore when it comes to jeans, too much risk of muffin top. As for my size 10's, I had to face giving them over to a charity shop"
Also I just wanted to do a little section on eating out as I had a meal out today, only the second one I've had out since I went on my diet and its daunting! Fat To Fit Blog XX: Gym review
I've been going to the gym twice a week for four weeks now but was getting very annoyed with my workout as it felt so easy, the treadmill especially i barely got out of breath and the bike just seemed to hurt my butt! but Jane at the gym has come to the rescue and given me a new workout and gave me compliments for having an hourglass figure and a nice accent, bless her :)
It's a lot more challenging than my previous workout but I want to be kept on my toes. The new work out has got abs exercises, the arm bike and more toning cardio (stepper/wave machine) for hips/thighs area where I really want to target as I really want to get into my leather skirt and buy a new pair of jeans :) All I will say hats off to anyone who does the wave machine at the gym that thing is so hard! I was dripping sweat all over the machine after only doing 6 minutes of it.
It took about over an hour to get the review sorted since the gym was busy and then I wanted to try the work out in full so I was there from half 2 until nearly 5. I came home and demolished by reasonable sized bowl of chilli and rice :)

- 15 min treadmill (power walking)
- 10 min bike
- 10 min rower
- 5 min recline bike
New work out
- 5 min cross trainer
- 15 min treadmill with running intervals, i have never run on a treadmill in my life O.o
- 10 min rower
- 8 min stepper
- 6 min arm bike
- 6 min wave machine
- 24 abs crunch things that hurt like hell but seem to do the job way better than loads of situps.
- Stretching exercises which seems to be a lot about getting my legs in the air and stretching like a cat.
- 5 min recline bike to cool down.

Fat To Fit Blog XIX: 6 week weigh in
What a great week! the extra walking every day paid off and despite my binge a week ago all was not lost :) Two things because I'm 174.5lbs I have passed the 1 stone weight loss mark and I'm no longer obese according to BMI standards I'm just overweight so I can cross off another one of my 10 motivational goals I wrote :) Also congratulations to my mum as for the last few weeks of her diet her metabolism hasn't kicked in and she hadn't lost any weight but this week she lost 5.5lbs! We got her to step on and step off the scales a few times because we couldn't believe it, so go Mama Stevenson! :)
10 motivational goals/aspirations
1. To go back to university in September a slimmer and more confident person
2. To be a size 12-14 rather than 16-18
3. To feel comfortable about my body in underwear
4. To be a smaller bra size, 32E would be ideal.
5. For my waist size to be 28-29 inches, believe it or not I have a naturally slim waist and back! its been awhile since its been that size though.
6. To buy size 14 hipster jeans and feel sexy in them, part of the reason I never wear jeans is because they make me feel fat, you can't have muffin tops/buddha belly in a flowing dress.
7. To have a defined jawline and décolletage again, I'll be glad to get rid of my double chin and lack of collarbone definition.
8. To wear the size 14 leather/suede mini skirt I bought from new look last year, I have never worn it because when I bought it I was slightly too big for it when I bought it and planned to diet to fit in and never got round to it, on a night out and feel confident that I fit in it.
9. To fit comfortably in my denim shorts for fresher's week, since I loved wearing them last year during freshers.
10. To not be classed as an obese woman again, I can deal with being overweight according to BMI as I'm a curvy girl but I will not be obese!

Fat To Fit Blog XVIII: New Clothes
This has been a happy weekend as I've bought a playsuit and dress in a size 14, considering i was struggling to pull up the zipper on most size 16s and can now easily fit into 14s without struggling I've come a long way already :) Don't think I'll ever be a solid 12 as nature and genes have blessed me with a giant rack, most women related to me will know the same annoyance :) The photos aren't the best but I thought I'd show pictures to show my success so far. Weigh in stats will be posted tomorrow -fingers crossed- :)
See you tomorrow xo

Fat To Fit Blog XVII: Stuffed Mushroom Recipe
Quick and easy recipe I've come up with to have for a light lunch/dinner :) You can use any kind of vegetable for it if you don't like courgettes and red onion, try chopped tomatoes and red peppers :)
Stuffed Mushrooms with Courgette, Red Onion and Cheddar (250 calories*)
2 field mushrooms
1 small courgette
1/2 red onion
Light cooking spray
30g cheddar**, you can use mozzarella, feta, any kind of cheese.
Preparation Method:
1. Pre heat the oven to Gas Mark 5/6
2. Prepare your mushrooms by peeling the skins and cutting out the stalk in the centre.
3. Next chop up 1/2 a red onion and a small courgette finely.
4. Grate 30g cheese or chop it into smaller pieces depending on the variety of cheese
5. Lightly spray a baking tray with the cooking spray.
6. Now to assemble the mushrooms, divide the onion and courgette between the two mushrooms and then put the grated cheese on top.
7. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is golden.
8. Serve with a side salad or baked potato.
* This calorie amount is based on following my recipe.
**Depending on what cheese you use and if you want to use more, it can change the calorie amount.

Fat To Fit Blog XV: Joey Gloor (MTV 'I Used To Be Fat' trainer)
A little sad, but when I watched I Used To Be Fat, I fell a bit in love with Josef 'Joey' Gloor, he is beautiful and ripped to hell! So thought I'd give him a message on facebook and actually got a response, probably the high point of my day and I managed to balance out the binge from last night with exercise and reducing my calories a little today. So back on track and in a good mood :)
Fat To Fit Blog XIV: Binge
Hey everyone, Thought I definitely needed to write a blog about this event. I've been so good on my diet for weeks staying in my 1500 calorie goal working my butt off but yesterday I just felt awful. I was sore from body combat had a horrible headache and just thought fuck it why am I doing this? I went to the kitchen it started off with a cheese toastie, followed by a packet of crisps, followed by a can of rice pudding followed by another packet of crisps. In other words about a 1000 calorie binge and I felt satsified but then came the huge load of guilt thinking I've ruined my diet for nothing but crap food that didn't make me happy.
It was a moment of clarity about my bingeing, over the last few years I've loved to binge but its been a lot of secret bingeing. Hiding junk in my pockets or going up Tesco's and heading straight to my room to binge where no one can see me. Eating family bag size packets of Doritios with whole tubs of dip, pizzas, mounds of fish fingers. I thought some how it wasn't happening as no one saw me do it. Yesterday made me realise food is never going to make me happy how I think it will. All my problems or frustrations won't go away if I binge, its just going to wrack me guilt and I'm going have to remember that the next time I want to go crazy and think fuck it. Well I'm off to the gym to hopefully offset the damage I've done.

Fat To Fit Blog XII: I Used To Be Fat
I Used To Be Fat - Kelly
A little addicted to I Used To Be Fat, but completely fell in love with this girl. Same weight but 3lbs lighter to begin with, roughly the same time frame, same goal except she wanted to lose 50lbs which was a bit ridiculous, as I don't even want to lose that much but mainly because I'm a curvy girl. She lost 30lbs and I was rooting for her the entire episode especially when she ran the 5k just felt like staring in the mirror, really suggest to give this show a watch if you want to/planning to lose a lot of weight, very inspiring :)
Currently terrified however as my five week weigh is tomorrow which is very nerve wracking to say the least. Sunday nights are now feeling sleepless as I'm tossing and turning waiting to get up and find out the number. Its been worth it so far every monday I've been happy, some losses better than others but as long as I've lost weight tomorrow, I know its in the right direction and I'm doing something to change my life. No more junk food for comfort or using it to try and deal with my problems when it actually just makes everything worse. I don't want to give up on myself, I know I have so much to offer the world and I don't want to shy away anymore. I know I'm not a shy person never have been but I want to be more like the old Laura which many of you haven't met if you've met me in the last 2 years. Watching I Used To Be Fat reminds me that this is a life change not just a diet to slim down into a bikini, I want to be healthy and happy in myself :)

Fat To Fit Blog XI: Body Combat, Size 14 & Bikinis
Hello everyone, new blog today as I finally managed to get my arse out of bed to try Body Combat class. Its pretty much your standard intense exercise class but it involves lots of punching and kicking, its a mixture of boxing, kick boxing, martial arts and aerobics. I found it a bit hard too coordinate my arm movements with my leg movements but I've never been the most graceful/rhythmic of people. Its a lot of cardio but that's not the hard part, you can feel it toning your arms, abs, legs, chest, you'll feel muscles in your body you forgot you had or in some cases have never felt before! I was absolutely dead by the end of it and if I'm honest I wasn't doing the press ups at the end more of flailing around on the floor on my stomach, but you can burn 540 calories in a 55min class which isn't too bad going and it makes a change from the standard gym stuff. It's a good class and really works you hard but if its your first time, you feel like you need a bit of further instruction compared to the other toned lovelies in the class :)
Another first this week, wearing size 14 chinos, sounds sad but it was really exciting, everyone is probably sick of me mentioning it as I did not stop banging on about it yesterday :) I also got a new tshirt which is a size 14 and size 14 bikini bottoms for my two new bikinis still not sure if I'm going on holiday but if not I've got some awesome bikinis to wear to any beach parties in Aber when I start back! Not quite ready to wear them in public just yet but I'm on my way :)
I did try on size 14 jeans, the hipster ones annoyed me how did i used to wear them? o.O I'm not quite fitting into size 14 jeans just yet but its probably only a few weeks away. Clothes sizes aren't the issue here as I know how unpredictable they can be, it'll just feel good when I can say goodbye to looking at 16-18 clothes and not have this constant disappointment going into most shops where they only go up to a 16 and feel crushed when the biggest size in the shop doesn't fit. I want to get my weirdo streak in my clothes again, I've felt like covering up a lot more and not wearing outrageous/weird outfits as much as I didn't want to draw attention to myself due to my weight but I feel like I'm really getting my confidence back and being Laura again and slowly but surely my belly is shrinking! May never have a flat stomach but I can hopefully have one a lot less rounded.
Shall update tomorrow with my 5 week weigh in :) xo

I want to get my weirdo streak in my clothes again, I've felt like covering up a lot more and not wearing outrageous/weird outfits as much as I didn't want to draw attention to myself due to my weight but I feel like I'm really getting my confidence back and being Laura again and slowly but surely my belly is shrinking! May never have a flat stomach but I can hopefully have one a lot less rounded.
Shall update tomorrow with my 5 week weigh in :) xo

Fat to Fit Blog X: 30 days and motivation
Today I have been on my diet for 30 days which is a bit mad to think about, I think its the longest I've ever been on a diet for generally at this point I have given up and gone back to my old junk loving/sofa junkie ways. Right now I'm going to be honest it's tempting, I would still kill to have a whole pizza or eat KFC but I know I want to be slimmer more so I have to stick with it, even the motivation has started to dip. I keep envisioning this slimmer Laura but it still seems far away with 25lbs to lose. I know I'll get there but its easier to live as a fat girl than it is as a healthy girl.
Its been 30 days of living in gym gear, no make up and eating healthily. I really miss getting dressed up for nights out but alcohol has gone out the window with this diet so i'm feeling pretty unglamorous and plain. So tomorrow I'm having a weight watchers lunch with Vicki and Pearlie and have vowed to put on a dress and do my makeup to feel pretty even though I'm only going to Vicki's house and they are my best friends. I need it as motivation, because while you're losing weight its really easy to not feel pretty even though you're getting slimmer as you never seem to have time to look good but tomorrow I'm making the effort!
While I'm on the topic of motivation dipping in general I thought I'd follow the general advice of weight loss websites, books, dvds etc and write down my weight loss goals/aspirations which I haven't really clearly defined. My only goal has been to not be fat which is a bit too general to feel motivational.
No matter what my weight ends up as if I reach these goals by the end of this year I'll be happy :)
Anyone trying to lose weight at the moment I really recommend writing this list, it's really helped to define why I'm doing this, not just for the generic "I want to healthier" "I want to be slimmer" goals. Think of that outfit you want to wear or specific things about your body you want to change but make sure its realistic. In my head I would love to have 32C boobs but that's never going to happen as that's not my natural shape. Or the goal of I want a washboard stomach, I'd love a perfectly flat and toned stomach and bear my midriff in public knowing I look good, but to have that kind of stomach is a hell of a lot of work and you may never be happy with the result.
Pick things you know you can achieve if you work hard at it but don't pick the impossible, learn to accept your natural shape, I'm not a slim girl I never will be but I know I can be sexy hourglass and I'm happy about that :)

Fat to Fit Blog VII: Passing university, diet vs lifestyle change and chinos
Just a little post ahead of my weigh in, I was going to start taking pictures of my healthy food but I haven't made any food today, god bless tesco light choices szwechan noodles (310 calories) :) I also passed my first year of university so it seemed the perfect time to treat myself to a jam and cream doughnut which in all fairness was only 220 calories but was amazing :) I loved that when I walked into my living room and sat down to eat it my dad's first comment was "I thought you were on diet" Pssh this idea of never eating anything nutritionally negative on a diet is ridiculous, there has to be a treat.
A diet is a bad word for what this is, this is a lifestyle change and making good food choices, still occasionally making the bad ones but for the majority of time taking stock of what I'm putting into my body. For example this year one of my dinners was a whole pasta bake! there's nothing wrong with having pasta bake with some cheese but my idea of a pasta bake was 574 calories worth of pasta, 455 calories in cheese, 300 calories in the sauce, so a grand total of 1329 calories for my main meal!
I'm not saying I'm never going to eat this kind of pasta bake again but I'm not going to eat the same amount. The main thing I've been learning is what a portion of something is, not estimating but weighing out my food not religiously but especially with pasta, cheese, rice etc anything carb rich or fat rich just so I've got a good idea of what I'm eating :). A normal serving of pasta is 50g my kind of portion before hand was 166g (1/3 of a pack of pasta) so over 3x what I should have been eating.
Also to finish off my ultimate high light of this week was being given a pair of chinos to try on that Vicki wanted to get rid of, there were a bit too tight I thought they were a size 16 so I was a little disappointed, it turned out they were size 14 chinos! So that is my success story, hopefully I'll be strutting around in them soon :)
See you monday for the weight update! xo

Fat to Fit Blog VI: Lack of treats and internet hilarity
Main thing I will say about today to keep this blog confessional of how annoyed I am that I can't seem to bring myself to have a proper decadent treat! Last night I had a terrible meal, I went in with that attitude with I'll treat myself but as soon as I heard 'let's share a combo platter' I should probably go for the healthy option, I ordered the seabass and it was truly awful I should have gone all out and had steak and chips, out of the combo platter I only had 1 onion ring, 1 chicken wing and 4 potato wedges not exactly a treat more of a slight grazing.
Tonight I planned for cocktails but they were sadly cancelled but I still haven't had a treat, I feel like I should send myself to my pantry and pick something since I've not eaten much today and I still haven't really given myself a food treat since on the diet. I don't want to get too obsessed so it's got to be healthy to dive in a unhealthy snack once a week just to keep yourself sane and the fried/cheesy/savoury/carb addiction at bay!
In other news I thought I'd add some funny weight loss things I've come across on the internet just to keep it light hearted :)

Ten New Diets by Judy Pokras
You've tried Dr. Stillman's Quick Weight Loss Diet, the Sardine Diet, the Grapefruit Diet, and more, but you're still lugging those extra pounds around. What's a food lover to do? Good news! Ten new diets have just arrived on the scene. One of them is bound to do the trick.
1. The Internet Diet. You lose weight because you're so addicted to being online, you don't eat for days at a time.
2. The Fantasy Diet. You eat a Collard Wrap while fantasizing you're really eating Death by Chocolate.
3. The Play With Your Food Diet. You're so busy making a castle out of your mashed potatoes, you forget to eat them.
4. The Food Chess Diet. You and a friend play chess using food tidbits as chess pieces. You are only allowed to eat when you capture your friend's players. You lose the game and you lose weight.
5. The Rolling Table Diet. You sit on a chair on wheels, trying to eat at a table on wheels. The motorized floor under your table is constantly shifting, so you don't get to eat much, and thus lose weight. (This is similar to The Seasick Diet, but takes place in your own land-lubbing home.)
6. The Fisherperson Diet. A fisherperson holds a pole whose end is attached to a morsel of food in your mouth. Every time your try to bite down on the food, the fisherperson pulls the food away.
7. The Puffed Food Diet. All your favorite foods are re-made in the style of puffed wheat or puffed rice. Your Cheese Ravioli is now mostly air, so you don't gain any weight.
8. The Mock Puffed Food Diet. In this diet, all the foods you like to eat are made of styrofoam, to resemble the Puffed Food Diet. Now you can't eat the food at all. (You try to, and spit it out.) You really lose weight.
9. The Edible Flowers Diet. You are only allowed to eat edible flowers. You get bored with them and eat nothing, thus lose weight.
10. The Love Diet. You munch playfully on your sweetheart's hand. You gain no calories; you lose weight. Your sweetheart loses interest in you because s/he preferred you with love handles.
2. The Fantasy Diet. You eat a Collard Wrap while fantasizing you're really eating Death by Chocolate.

Fat to Fit Blog III: Favourite Junk Food Facts
Hello all,
This will only be a short blog as I'm posting a new one tomorrow with some hopefully positive results from my weigh in. Since I've started eating healthier i've noticed the foods I miss the most are actually quite disgusting, greasy fish and chips, chinese takeaway, doritios and dip, KFC, more chips, chicken nuggets etc I'm a savoury fried golden fiend when it comes to food. But when I actually looked into what I was putting into my body, its not good, even oven chips it says on the front of the bag per 100g portion, it was about 7 chips at 210 calories. If you're going to take away any information from this blog, research your food know what's in it and it might make you think twice about eating it in the first place.
Here are my top 4 favourite foods with ridiculously high calories
1. KFC 3 piece variety meal (3 pieces of original chicken, 1 crispy strip, 2 hot wings, regular fries, regular diet pepsi) = 1270 calories and 73g fat!
2. Chinese Food Chicken and Cashew Nuts, Large Egg Fried Rice and a mound of prawn crackers = 1465 calories and 77g fat!*
3. Domino's Medium Texas BBQ Pizza (8 slices) = 1472 calories and 42g fat!
4. Chippy Large Portion of Fish and Chips = 1385 calories and 77g fat!**
My recommended calorie intake is 1920 calories a day if I do little or no exercise to maintain my current weight. The KFC meal is 66% of my daily calorie intake, the chinese takeaway and Domino's pizza is 76% of my calorie intake and the Fish and Chips is 72% or my recommended calories intake. So to eat one of these meals is to pretty much erradicate my calorie needs for the day.
As far as my fat intake of 54g goes (sedentary lifestyle), only one meal is within my daily limit of 54g which is the Domino's Pizza.
I don't want to ruin this food for everyone, its more to ruin it for myself. It's fine to have these foods once in awhile but say every week it soon adds up and if you're going to eat them you need to balance it out with exercise :)
Will be posting a weight update tomorrow :)
* = this is an estimate from a website chinese food can vary from restaurant to restaurant.
** = this is an estimate from an article, but portion size can vary massively from chip shop to chip shop, so take this calorie and fat amounts with a pinch of salt as they could be lower and they could be a hell of a lot higher depending on where you go and how much you eat!
